Public Service
Giving back to our community should be a goal of every lawyer. MYLA is dedicated to improving our community through public service. Every year, MYLA hosts its pumpkin farm event where MYLA seeks volunteers to chaperone disadvantaged children to a local pumpkin farm. The children go on a farm tour, enjoy a hay ride, and pick their own pumpkins in a pumpkin patch.
At our Annual Judges' Night, MYLA includes a Toy Drive for disadvantaged youths. MYLA also promotes public service by:

Pro Bono
MYLA is dedicated to improving the community by promoting access to justice through pro bono work.
MYLA takes very seriously the need to improve access to justice for the poor. Every year, MYLA involves itself with different pro bono projects. May 1st is National Law Day. MYLA celebrates by helping to host free legal clinics and legal hotlines for those in need. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Eric Lowenberg eric@penegorlaw.com. In addition, MYLA, an original co-sponsor of Legal Action of Wisconsin's Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP), invites lawyers who are interested in providing pro bono legal services to low income people to be an active volunteer. Participating in the Volunteer Lawyers Project is an effective way for lawyers to meet their professional pro bono obligation and contribute to their community by helping their clients protect the safety, stability and health of their families, maintain safe and affordable housing, and secure benefits that will assure food, medical care and financial support. For more information about the pro bono opportunities offered by the VLP, contact Patricia Risser, at pzr@legalaction.org or 414-274-3063 (toll-free 888-278-0633, ext. 3063). |
